Aston Cantlow Death, Post Mortem Results Prove Inconclusive

A post mortem examination conducted on the body found in a burning car at Aston Cantlow early on Wednesday 25 January, have proved inconclusive and the cause of death has not yet been established.

Further analysis and the results from additional tests are now awaited. Police continue to treat the death as unexplained.

Police believe they now know who the person in the car is, but a formal identification is likely to take some time due to the intense heat within the vehicle.

Police continue to appeal to members of the public or road users who were in or near Brearley Road, Aston Cantlow early on Wednesday morning who may have seen the red Peugeot 306, or who saw a car entering the field where it was reported to be well alight at shortly after 7am.

They would also like to hear from any early morning dog walkers, or anyone out and about early on Wednesday morning who heard the car being driven in the field, or who heard anything such as car music or other information that could indicate when the car was driven on to the field.
