Fatal collision on M40 - police appeal for witnesses

Police investigating a fatal collision on the M40 in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday October 24, are appealing for witnesses to help them establish how and why it occurred.

Officers were called to the northbound carriageway near junction 15 at about 01.56hrs where it was reported that a vehicle had left the road and was on fire in a field.

Fire and ambulance crews also attended.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a green Mini One. The driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven before the collision occurred is asked to contact PC Wayne Knight in the Warwickshire Police Major Investigation Unit (Roads)on 01926 415415.

The identity of the driver will not be released until the formal identification process has been completed and all close relatives informed.
