Sixteen year old remanded following arson

The 16 year old male who was arrested on 2 March following two fires in Harold Cox Place, Rugby on Saturday 27 February and Monday 1 March has been remanded into secure accommodation until 28 May when he will next appear at Warwick Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

He appeared at Warwick Crown Court this morning charged with two counts of manslaughter, two counts of arson with intent to endanger life and two counts of arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered.

CID officers are currently questioning a second male in connection with the arsons. The man who is 18 years old from Rugby was arrested this morning on suspicion of manslaughter and arson with intent.

Please note: Since his arrest on 2 March, the male has turned 16 years old.
