Incidents of robbery fall by 64.6% in three areas of Leamington.

Police in Leamington are pleased to report that between April 1, 2010 and August 6, 2010 incidents of robbery have fallen by 64.6% in three areas of Leamington.

These priority areas in Leamington - Leamington Spa Town Centre, Leamington South and Leamington North - are geographic locations, which have previously seen the highest number of incidents and crimes in Warwickshire.

Chief Inspector Neil Harrison said: “The police consider the offence of robbery to be serious as it involves theft with use or threat of use of violence. I am encouraged by the reduction of an already low number of incidents. In the same period last year there were 10 offences compared to 4 this year. I want the local community to know that we will not be complacent and continue to target those who commit crime. Warwickshire Police will continue their work with partner agencies and voluntary organisations to create a safer environment.

"An increased focus on dealing with those who commit the highest number of crime, in addition to Neighbourhood Watch days of action, is helping to reduce the number of incidents taking place in the areas of Leamington, which suffer a disproportionate level of crime, compared with other areas of the town. Police in Leamington, together with partners, will continue to protect communities by addressing these issues."
