Police appeal following fatal collision at Freasley, Tamworth

Incident 250, December 6

Police are investigating a collision in which three people have died and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The collision happened at about 17.15hrs today, Friday December 6, near to Planters Garden Centre at the junction of Trinity Road and Overwoods Road.

It involved a Scania lorry and three cars - a red Hyundai Getz, a grey Peugeot 207 and a Mercedes.

The female driver and two male passengers from the Hyundai died in the collision.

The male driver of one of the other cars was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield.

The details of the people who died will not be released until the formal identification process has been completed and all close relatives have been informed.

Roads around the area were closed to allow officers to conduct their investigation and for the vehicles to be removed from the scene, but they are expected to be cleared shortly.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw any of the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven before the collision occurred.
