Police seek urgent help – Body found on A444

Incident 98, September 2

Police are seeking the urgent help of the public following the discovery of a body on the A444 near to Nuneaton.

Officers were called to the location on the northbound carriageway, near to Sutherland Drive, by a passing motorist at 6.35am this morning (Sunday, September 2, 2012).

On attending the scene the body of a man was found by the side of the northbound road.

At this time his death is being treated as unexplained but officers believe he had been struck by a vehicle.

Police are urging members of the public, particularly motorists, who used this stretch of the A444 overnight from Saturday, September 1, to this morning to get in touch.

The identity of the man has been confirmed and family are currently being informed.

The A444 remains closed in both directions from the junction with the M6 to Griff Roundabout and motorists are advised to make alternative travel arrangements. It is unknown when the road will reopen.

Anyone who witnessed anything or knows of anything in relation to this incident, particularly if they are aware of significant damage which has been caused to a vehicle, is urged to contact police as soon as possible.
