Police in Rugby Arrest 12 As Part Of An Organised Plan To Ship Stolen Vehicles Abroad

On Thursday 4 March a search warrant issued under the Theft Act 1968 was executed at the site of Mitchell’s Potatoes, Straight Mile, Frankton near Rugby as part of an ongoing investigation into an organised crime group engaged in the theft and handling of stolen motor vehicles.
Ten people were arrested at the site in Frankton. Two further two people arrested in London and were transferred to Warwickshire The 12 males have all been interviewed on suspicion of conspiracy to steal motor vehicles and disposal of stolen motor vehicles and are presently on bail pending further investigation.
The vehicles which were recovered as part of the operation are valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds and had been reported stolen from various locations throughout the country. A number of them were in the process of being shipped abroad via ports on the south coast at the time of the arrests.
Warwickshire Police is working with other police forces and other agencies, including Rugby District Council, the Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive and the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service in connection with the operation at the premises in Frankton.

The individuals arrested were renting units at the location in question and are not involved in the legitimate potato processing operation on the site.
