Three convicted of conspiracy to steal high value cars

Three men have been sentenced to a total of five years imprisonment for their parts in a conspiracy to steal high value cars after appearing at Warwick Crown Court on Friday 20 August.

Twenty-eight year old Majid Hussain from Luton was sentenced to two years imprisonment, 21 year old Mohsan ALI from Luton was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment and 28 year old Tokmul Miah from Luton was sentenced to 15 months for their parts in the conspiracy after pleading guilty on 23 July.

The plot was uncovered when officers from Leamington Spa investigated the theft of an Audi Rs that had been advertised for sale on the internet. Three men came to Leamington to view the car and whilst they did so they switched the spare key with one they had brought with them. The sale of the car was agreed and a small deposit was paid. The car was subsequently stolen during the night.

It was established that this team had also stolen a Mini Cooper and two BMW's using the same method in other parts of the country.

Police recovered the stolen in Audi in Luton.

DC Paul Usmar who worked on the case said “The three men ran a very slick operation.

“They were very plausible and professional and posed as the sons of wealthy businessmen.

“We are delighted at this conviction and an application has been made under the Proceeds of Crime Act to the value of approximately £100,000 in an attempt to recover some of their stolen gains.”
