Police in Nuneaton were contacted at shortly after 1am on Friday 3 September by the ambulance service who were in attendance at an address in Sorrell Road, Nuneaton.

On their arrival police found a male who had suffered a serious assault, who was inside the house.

The man, aged 39 years, was taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he is currently being treated for injuries to his head and body.

A 44 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the locality of Sorrell Road on the late evening Thursday 2 September or early on Friday September 3.
