Male arrested following road traffic collision, Fillongley

Incident 402 of 25 January

Officers are appealing for witnesses after three people were seriously injured when a black Freelander Estate was in collision with the blue and silver Aprilia RX125 motorcycle they were riding, on Coventry Road near The Manor Public House in Fillongley at just after 11pm on Wednesday evening 25 January.

The Freelander failed to stop at the scene and was later recovered after it had been abandoned and set alight near The Newdigate Arms in Newdigate Road, Bedworth at 11.40pm on the same evening.

Following the collision, the road was closed to allow emergency services to attend the scene.

The three people on the motorcycle were treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment to their injuries. An 18 year old man suffered a broken leg and injuries to his collar bone, a 13 year old female suffered a broken leg, and a 14 year old female suffered a fractured skull and leg injuries.

Police later arrested a 35 year old man from Coleshill on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision.

Officers are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding the collision including whether the Freelander had been stolen earlier the same evening from the carpark of the Carousel Pub, Dark Lane, Bedworth sometime between 10.35pm and 11pm on Wednesday 25 January.
