Warwickshire Police Is Recognised As One Of The Top Places to Work
15 March 2010 10:25
Warwickshire Police is officially one of the top public sector organisations to work for in the country.
The force has been placed at number 64 in the nationally recognised Sunday Times Top 75 Places To Work in the Public Sector List, in addition to achieving a “One To Watch” status in the Best Companies Accreditation 2010.
The awards are made based on feedback from a survey completed by staff and officers and reflects that the force has a highly motivated workforce which values their work in protecting the public.
It is the first time that police forces have been eligible to enter both processes, which previously had only been open to commercial companies and local authorities.
Surveys were circulated to a cross section of the Warwickshire Police workforce in autumn 2009, asking a series of 54 questions about how they felt about their work and different aspects of the organisation. The top responses revealed the Warwickshire Police workforce feels proud to work for the force and has a high sense of satisfaction that their personal input makes a difference to the people and communities of Warwickshire.
Warwickshire Police had already learned they had been awarded a Best Companies “One To Watch” status and that the force had been placed within the top 75 Best Public Sector Companies. Representatives from Warwickshire Police and the Police Authority, including Assistant Chief Constable Lewis Benjamin, attended the award ceremony in London on Thursday evening (March 11) where they learned Warwickshire Police had been placed 64th within the top 75 short listed public sector organisations.
Speaking about the award, Chief Constable Keith Bristow said, “We recognise this as a prestigious award for the force which comes at a time when we have made significant improvements in the way we deliver policing with our communities and partners.
“The most rewarding aspect in achieving these awards is the positive message it gives to our communities and to the Police Authority that our workforce is highly motivated and is focused on protecting the public from harm.”
Ian Francis, Chair of the Police Authority said, “This award illustrates the value the workforce places on the organisation as an employer and clearly demonstrates its dedication to serving the people of Warwickshire. The Authority is proud to be associated with all those who have contributed to this excellent achievement.”
In receiving the Best Companies status and positioning within the Sunday Times Top 75 Public Sector Companies, Warwickshire Police can now display the two distinctive logos alongside the force identity.
This is the tenth year of the Sunday Times Best Places To Work awards have been run. It is also the sixth year for the Best Companies accreditation scheme.
